New Kingdom Hearts Game Melody Of Memory Announced
Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory is coming this year, and it looks an awful lot like the Final Fantasy spin-off Theatrhythm.
Kingdom Hearts 3 wrapped up the main story of the trilogy, but a new spin-off is on the way. Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory appears to be a rhythm-based game reviewing some of the greatest hits of the series' Disney-inspired worlds.
Square Enix debuted the game with a trailer, and it's set for worldwide release this year on PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. It opens with Sora, Donald, and Goofy in the cute style of Theatrhythm Final Fantasy, which sets the stage for comparisons to the Final Fantasy rhythm spin-off.
The trailer goes on to show the trio running through familiar locales like Destiny Island, Agrabah, and Olympus, as well as reliving the musical scores and notable cutscenes for characters like Roxas. While running on the track, they strike at Heartless enemies to the beat.
Theatrhythm was an unexpected treat for Final Fantasy fans, and Melody of Memory appears to be a similar throwback to fans of Kingdom Hearts. The original Theatrhythm was expanded with the release of a follow-up, Curtain Call.
