Now Playing: GS News Update: New Injustice 2 Robin Gameplay Revealed, As Ed Boon Teases Obscure Characters

[UPDATE] Here is the official video:

The original story is below.

Today during a Twitch livestream, Injustice 2 developer NetherRealm revealed gameplay footage of the character Robin and others. This was captured by the YouTube channel GameplayOnly - Trailers & Gameplay and can be seen below. Batman also shows up in the trailer and you can see he has a new stance. Check out the full video below. We'll add an official version if/when it becomes available.

Also during the livestream, NetherRealm boss Ed Boon said there will be some somewhat obscure characters on the game's roster. The first Injustice game covered all the high points as it relates to well-known DC characters, with the sequel diving deeper into some new ones you may not know as much about. He also teased that there is good chance NetherRealm will release third-party characters as DLC for Injustice 2. He said these were very popular in Mortal Kombat X, so NetherRealm is doing it again.

Overall, Injustice 2 will have the largest roster for a NetherRealm game, both in terms of on-disc and DLC characters, Boon said.

Boon also made clear that Injustice 2 is taking steps to avoid allowing players to pay to win; gear will not be sold for money, he said.

Finally, he confirmed that codes for the Injustice 2 beta are going out now. The first wave has been sent out, with more to follow. You can find out more about the beta here.

Some of the other confirmed playable characters in Injustice 2 include Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Superman, Supergirl, Aquaman, Atrocitus, Gorilla Grodd, Blue Beetle, and Wonder Woman.

Injustice 2 launches on May 16 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

The switch between 60 FPS fighting and 30 FPS special attacks hurt my eyes.

He-Man for guest character

Avatar image for alucardswrath

@Kesmai: I would LOVE that! Everytime i mention to someone that He-Man is as strong as Superman, then never believe me. I believe that it was the Silver Age Superman that He-Man fought, and gave supes a run for his money.

@alucardswrath: superman also boxed Muhammad Ali to a draw soooooo. He's as strong as he needs to be.

Avatar image for alucardswrath

@itshopeless13: Superman was just a normal person during that "fight" he had no powers at all, where he did have his powers (Silver Age mind you) fighting He-Man.

@alucardswrath: Yes, they also had somewhat of a rematch in the DCU vs MOTU comic crossover in 2013.

@Kesmai: i can see that aha

Characters from Justice League Dark and Teen Titans would be great.

I wish they would add Michael, Lucifer, Anti-Monitor, Icon, Captain Atom, Doctor Fate and Spectre.

Granted Michael, Lucifer and The Spectre would be alittle too much on the OP side, but would still love to see them slug it out.

Good fighting but Robin has become somewhat incredible and it does feel a little cheesy at the moment but the game only releases in May so I am somewhat keen to get it but to me it does a little injustice compared to Tekken and Mortal Kombat for me at the moment. I still appreciate Boon's work and I'm sure this will do better than the first game

Avatar image for normanislost

@J-007: well this is Damien, Bruce Wayne's actual son (and mothered by Talia al ghul, who is her self a deadly fighter) the incredibleness fits

Avatar image for J-007

@normanislost: That makes perfect sense and I watched Damien Wayne so I like the fighting. Good move and thanks for the spoiler had to be told. No sarcasm here

Okay this is the kind of problem we had with the first Injustice game, too many Batman families and I was hoping Ed Boon learn his mistakes by having too many Batman characters and not fleshing out more different DC heroes & Villain's alike. But of course, I rather replace Damien as Robin for Batwoman at least.

Avatar image for shay-cormac

@davillain-: I don't get what's wrong with too many Batman characters because they're overall just the best characters. Also Robin is one of the best DC heroes.

Robin looks like TV version of Green Arrow and moves like ninja... OK. Different, but OK.

Avatar image for karloss01

@nikon133: It's Damian Wayne (I believe) Son to Talia Al Ghul and trained by the league of shadows as a child before meeting his father (Bruce Wayne) and becoming a Robin to Batman. Hence why he moves like a ninja.

Aqualad (Kaldur'ahm) would be pretty cool too to add.

Does that mean Spawn?!?!?! I BET IT DOES!

Avatar image for restatbonfire

@LPDisturbedHU: spawn would have fit better in mkx

Avatar image for LPDisturbedHU

@restatbonfire: I agree, but he'd work pretty damn well in Injustice as well.
