New Fortnite: Battle Royale Update Lets You Surf On Guided Missiles

The ride of a lifetime.

Fortnite: Battle Royale got a big new patch today that implements a bunch of changes and brings back an old limited-time game mode. The update also includes a new weapon, the Guided Missile, which has provided an unexpected high point of the new patch.

This is because the Guided Missile moves slow enough to ride on. That's right, you can now surf on one of the giant, slow-moving missiles. This is actually the second weapon that players can ride on; the Pumpkin Launcher is also surf-able. But the Guided Missile is much more fun because the person who launched it can control its flight. Twitch streamer and esports athlete Myth demonstrated missile surfing, and you can see it in action in the video below.

It's pretty hilarious, and it shows another example of some of the wackier strategies and stunts that Fortnite players come up with, both to get an advantage and just to have fun. We have no idea if missile-surfing will ever be used strategically--but it's fun to imagine a player launching a missile and their teammate toward an enemy's location.

The Fortnite 3.4 patch is also headlined by the return of Sniper Shootout, which features the addition of the Hunting Rifle and Crossbow and the removal of the Magnum Revolver. Further, the game's 30 FPS option has been removed. You can see the full Fortnite 3.4 patch notes here.

Technically third as they on and off made the normal Rocket Launcher 'surf-able'.

@ps3gamer1234: Just stick to it. I don't think I'm the bees knees at the game but I've amassed over thirty wins total over both Xbox and PS4. Just play smart and hope luck is on your side.

This makes me think of the days of Tribes 2 and strapping a satchel charge onto a Shrike; hehe.
