Fallout 4's next patch is starting its rollout. Bethesda has released a beta version of update 1.3.45 on PC through Steam for people who have opted in to receive beta updates.

No Caption Provided

Bethesda warns that this beta version is a "work in progress." As such, it is advised that players back up their game saves before opting in. Instructions for how to opt in to the beta are available here.

Fallout 4 1.3.45 adds a number of new features, including a new ambient occlusion setting, HBAO+, as well as more weapon debris effects for Nvidia cards. You can also look forward to a status menu for settlers, while Bethesda also says ESDF key remapping support for Workshop mode has been improved.

The update also offers general memory and stability improvements and fixes a number of bugs, including one where a player could warp to a different location when aiming. There are also a number of quest-specific bug fixes and changes. For example, in the "Confidence Man" mission, Bull and Gouger can now be killed.

The full Fallout 4 1.3.45 patch notes are below.

@deviltaz35: Nvidia GTX 770. As seen here https://www.reddit.com/r/fo4/related/3si4a5/god_rays_causing_objects_to_have_blurry_edges/

it's much worse in person. If you set godrays to high, it fixes it, but you lose a ton of frames.

Please fix the frame drops in downtown areas. No way I should be dropping to 30fps on a 980 card

@navyguy21: That is weird i get over 60 in towns on 980ti in 1440p even with HBAO+ and some 4k mods. You might have to look at something other than the 980 being the issue as there is no way it would be over 50% less performance compared to 980ti. Are you running it from SSD?

Oh good, I'll start playing the game again. I got too annoyed with the bugs, especially the ones interfering with my progress so I stopped until a patch would come out.

So still no FPS fixes for the inner city areas then? No new additions for the upcoming DLC, no mod tools released? WTF

@illage2: I was going to post the same thing about the FPS issues. I have a 4790k and a 980 and the game runs fairly well on ultra for me, but in order to get the game to maintain a steady 60fps I have to turn almost everything down to medium (which I'm not doing). With my hardware I shouldn't have to do that to get smooth gameplay. It's strange to me that they would add a new graphics setting instead of fixing the performance issues they already have.

@Iamkalell: Runs fine on 980ti at 1440p so far. Haven't seen it drop much below about 70-80 fps with HBAO+. I use Gsync anyway so it's always smooth.

@mjc0961: Partially. Performance is a bit better, but the problem you describe is definitely still present (on a GTX 970).

hopefully you guys are reporting these "bugs" to Bethesda and not just complaining here. they claim that's the only way they know what to fix is by the amount of feedback they get there.

hadn't realized the Minutemen repetition was a bug. just figured it was a design flaw. damn it got old seeing the same quests at the same places over and over for them.

glad they're still at it fixing & improving. by the time expansions or enough character & mission mods have come around and it's time to play again it will even better.

Odd fixes as these bugs must be sporadic. I didn't kill the 2 guys in Confidence Man first time through and did in my second, which I am on....but it was a choice and I got different dialogue from the Russian guy when I did kill them...kinda funny :)

The only one of those fixes that I recognize is the repeating Minuteman ones....god the repetition!

I like seeing huge laundry lists of bug fixes like this. Makes me feel like the game developer still cares.

Hopefully we'll get the creation kit for this soon so people can get to work stamping out other bugs and issues.

No SAO flickering fix? (HBAO+ better not have it..)

No 21:9 support? (or surround, or 4:3, or 5:4)

How about including a cover mechanic in 3rd person view, so you aren't forced to shoot things completely open. Especially when a similar mechanic exists in 1rst person and every npc you encounter

@ughz: lol i kind of get what they mean though. They improved the gun mechanics so well now people expect cover mechanics :). On the flipside that Deathclaw scared the bejesus out of me first time i was in the suit. I doubt any amount of cover mechanics would have stopped that things rampage of death.

@Hammershock6: only problem like that i had is the dumb-*ss settlers knocking my stuff off the tables and furniture all the time. when they're hammering on the walls they'd pass right through the static items and knock stuff all around.

had to mini-nuke them a few times when i'd get back and my "trophies" would be all over the floor and the driveway.

@dostunuz: so, you mean items(furniture/etc) to place that have a type of "shield" around them keeping items on them from being interacted with at all?

the settlements need to get attacked more esp the big ones whats the point in building defences if there never attacked and the warning notice needs to last longer and be more noticable (spoiler if i decide to pick a different faction other than brotherhood theres a mission were danse gets attacked by the brootherhood but he still part of the brotherhood if i attack the brotherhood he turns hostile wheres he shouldnt be part of the brotherhood that bug needs to be fixed)

@Thumbler76: yeah, i don't know how that design actually was. a lot of the time my last 2 weapons would be slung over my shoulder and holstered, others maybe just a weapon on my back, others nothing visible at all. guessing it just resets with every travel and you have to pull them out again for them to show?

That settler status menu better be real in depth, because the settlement UI needs a loooot of work.
