New Fallout 4 Expansions Revealed, First Coming Next Week

Here's what's coming to the acclaimed RPG later this year.

Fallout 4's next DLC has been revealed.

Tonight during Bethesda's E3 2016 briefing, the developer outlined its plans for more Fallout 4 DLC, which starts next week with the release of the Contraptions Workshop update.

This will include track kits, sorting machines, conveyor belts, and more.

Coming in July will be another new update, Vault-Tec Workshop, that lets players build their own vaults. With these, players can experiment on dwellers, and more.

After that, Bethesda will release another new update that brings players to what is called Nuka-World, which looks like a rundown amusement park.

In a post-briefing livestream, Bethesda revealed that Nuka-World will be the final expansion for Fallout 4. It's set in a big amusement park that has been overtaken by Raiders.

These three add-ons are included with the $50 Fallout 4 DLC pass. However, Bethesda did not say how much the add-ons will cost individually, outside of the pass.

@Wraith3, @hermitstyle

I'm kind of disappointed, myself.

Automatron was.. well, short. I don't really even mess with it. I used the robots for about a day or two, and stopped. Wasteland Workshop, I've not even tried yet, or messed with it at all.

Far Harbor, on the other hand, is what DLC should be.

It adds a whole new "story"/"storyline" to the game, and an entirely new worldspace. When I think "DLC", that's what I think of. Especially so when it's coming from Bethesda. Dead Money, Honest Hearts, Old World Blues, and Lonesome Road, for Fallout: New Vegas. For Fallout 3, Operation Anchorage, The Pitt, Broken Steel, and Point Lookout.

They all add new spaces to the world. This time around.. the DLC is all about the workshop, and settlement building. Now, while I do enjoy the settlement building.. It doesn't add all that much to the game. Half of the things they're doing with the newly announced DLC (Vault Workshop, Contraption Workshop) could've been done by modders, and some of it has.

Hell, there's a mod for building your own Vault, already, why should I pay for a DLC that does the same thing(s)?

I'm not hating on Bethesda, but it seems like they're really letting a lot of people down with their DLC for Fallout 4. Far Harbor is nice, but I don't think, or at least, it doesn't seem, like it's actually bigger than Shivering Isles from Oblivion -- it simply has more quests. It's been a decent DLC, but it doesn't pull you in the same way that Fallout 3 and Fallout: NV's DLC's could/did.

I really hope that Nuka World will put me at ease, but I doubt it. I think Bethesda is a great -- one of the best -- game studios that there is, especially as of now, but I feel that they're letting people down a bit, including myself, with Fallout 4's DLC.

I also disagree with removing skills from Fallout 4, thereby changing the way Fallout 4 is played entirely, and not in a good way, but that's another discussion entirely.

Well, that's all I have to say. I still think Bethesda is a great company, I just think they could've made some better choices. Maybe if they weren't working on a Skyrim "remaster", which is unnecessary, really, (except for the addition of console mods), they would've put a bit more work into Fallout 4's DLC. Oh well, I suppose.

@muppetbabymastr, a Gunner/Minutemen story/storyline would be quite interesting, that is indeed a good idea.

(For some reason, I can't respond to individual posts. It keeps saying, "This is not a valid Captcha value", but there is no Captcha to be seen, so I'm not sure what the hell is going on. I only just now made my account to reply to this article. Not sure what's up. :| )

So far the DLC has been very disappointing compared to Fallout 3 and NV. The next DLCs don't sound any better either. IMO anyway.

I'm a huge fan of fallout and would normally defend just about anything they do but this is stupidly disappointing. If nuka-world is really the last DLC that they're doing then a $50 season pass was a joke. I'm glad I only paid $20 for my season pass on cdkeys. Even at $20 this season pass seems barely worth it.

Great. So instead of Bethesda building compelling single player, story driven content they pull a media molecule and give us soulless DLC where WE have to build a post apocalyptic mouse trap? Automatron had like 3 quests and could be beaten in a day. Far Harbor is the only redeeming one. Everything else is just mind numbing building crap. When did Bethesda lose their minds? This game is supposed to make us think about war, politics and history and violence, not spend 500 hours complacently designing shit shacks with cat posters. New Vegas remains the best Fallout. It cut the shit and gave us what we wanted: a shooter, a thoughtful RPG, great writing, great exploration, choices and karma that actually mattered, and, oh yeah, DLC THAT WAS GOOD AND NOT MINECRAFT.

@normanislost: A theme park full of raiders. Doesnt sound very story driven to me. They are the least interesting "faction" if you even want to call it that. Also even the largest theme park in the country is not very big so I dont expect a huge new land mass to explore and why bother if the main story is kill the raiders. I wanted a gunners vs minute men dlc, the gunners are an organized killing force why not give them some lore.

To be honest, I'm not enjoying this FO like did enjoy New Vegas and FO3. It just doesn't feel like Fallout to me.

All the DLC was crap, specially the robot dlc, pretty crap and we have Hard Harbor with the stupid Dima puzzle etc... just pretty poor game pass

Feels like most of dlc like the building stuff was removed from the game. Then sold us as a season pass with 2 poor actual expansions not really worth $50 for season pass. I expected way more content for the money. That guy said thanks for the support more like thanks for letting us milk us more like.

@balders74: the season pass wasn't $50 when it was only 3 DLCs and that now includes these 3 as well

Nuka-World is going to be the last DLC... seriously? Fallout 3 and New Vegas had more content than this.

"In a post-briefing livestream, Bethesda revealed that Nuka-World will be the final expansion for Fallout 4."

That there is some highly disappointing news to me. I was hoping for maybe four or five sizable story expansions.

@Brakkyn: That's a shame that these are the last ones. I too was expecting a lot more story driven Dlc's. The settlement thing was fun at first but it got old real fast.

@Brakkyn: Yeah replacing good DLC with this little settlement trash is far below what I expect from Saint Howard.

Oh boy, am I happy I got the SP before the increase in price. Well. I hope the Vault workshop is actually huge and allows for more than changing the appearance of NPCs (because that's what it sounds like).

@kaminobenimizu: With only two real DLCs of substance, even $30 seems a bit overpriced to me. Definitely better than $50, but still disappointing in the end.

The contraptions seem meh, but building my own Vault, that could be super cool. Nuka World looks like a creative and fun DLC. Really excited for that.
