The anime movie Evangelion: 3.0+1.01 Thrice Upon A Time will be released by Amazon in August. The latest film in the long-running sci-fi franchise hits Prime Video on August 13.

Thrice Upon A Time is the fourth film in the Rebuild of Evangelion series, and the previous movies are also set to be released by Amazon in August. They are Evangelion:1.11 You Are (Not) Alone (2009), Evangelion:2.22 You Can (Not) Advance (2009), and Evangelion:3.33 You Can (Not) Redo (2012).

The new movie was released in Japan in March, and now stands as the most successful film in the series. It will hit Prime Video in 240 countries in August--check out the trailer below:

Amazon has also released a synopsis for the film, which reads, "Misato and her anti-Nerv group Wille arrive in Paris, a city now red from core-ization. Crew from the flagship Wunder land on a containment tower. They only have 720 seconds to restore the city. When a horde of Nerv Evas appear, Mari's improved Eva Unit 8 must intercept. The original series, Neon Genesis Evangelion, ran from 1995 until 1996 in Japan, and was followed by the feature-length End of Evangelion in 1997. The Rebuild series followed a decade later. The original series was rereleased by Netflix in the US in 2019, although there were a few changes to the show.

Thrice Upon A Time isn't the only big anime movie heading to a streaming service in the next few months. Last month, it was announced that Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway, the latest additional to the classic mecha franchise, will hit Netflix later this year.
