Bethesda has released a new developer diary for Dishonored 2 focusing in the design and structure of missions. The video features lead designer Dinga Bakaba and creative director Harvey Smith, who talk about the open-ended nature of missions.

"At the beginning of the game you're faced with the choice [of picking] between Corvo and Emily. And then you're faced with the choice of which pathway to take through this crazy non-linear space ... And then on top of that you're faced with the play style question. Do you sneak and try to avoid killing people? Do you sneak but kill as many people as possible? Do you just kick the front door in and fight through?"

Smith goes on to discuss taking classic Dishonored missions but giving them "epic theming" to create a "completely memorable space to move around in." Lead level designer Christophe Carrier elaborates on this by highlighting "Crack in the Slab," a mission where you're able to move back and forth in time. There's also a closer look at the Clockwork Mansion, which has been seen a number of times in previous trailers.

As mentioned in the video, introducing two protagonists is one of the major changes in Dishonored 2. The game allows players to choose to play as either Emily Kaldwin or her father, Corvo Attano. The story is the same, but told from two different perspectives. For the sequel, both characters are fully voiced, with Thief's Stephen Russell as Corvo and Erica Luttrell as Emily.

Bethesda recently announced that preordering Dishonored 2 grants you access to the full game a day early. On top of that, everyone who preorders will get a free copy of Dishonored: Definitive Edition.

Dishonored 2 releases for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on November 11.
