Deus Ex: Mankind Divided's second story DLC pack launches next month, Square Enix and Eidos Montreal announced today.

The name for the DLC, A Criminal Past, had previously been shared, but we now know what to expect from it. It's a prequel story set "some time" before the start of Mankind Divided that tells the story of Adam Jensen's first mission with TF29.

No Caption Provided

"Jensen is transferred deep into a hostile, high-security prison for augmented felons," the official description reads. "His mission: track down and retrieve sensitive information from a fellow undercover agent who has gone dark. Success will help the fight against terror around the world, but Jensen will need to confront a darker side to his role before the day is done."

No trailer or screenshots from the expansion were shared other than the image above.

A Criminal Past launches for all platforms on February 23. Like the first story DLC, September's System Rift, it will be available on its own or as part of the $30 season pass. An individual price was not announced, but System Rift sells for $10.

Im a slave to the series, and if this is a substantial DLC its worth it. Too few games of this quality.

Dang, after reading the comments people are leaving, not many are enjoying Mankind Divided. It is my 1st teime in a Deus Ex game and I am blown away by the depth and creativity behind it/ Why this game wasn't a candidate or at least a noteworthy mention in the Game of the Year Awards is beyond me. What an amazing and such vividly detailed game. Loving it!!!!

@Jimbowesker: its got many divided [HAH! PUN!] i am a longtime fan of the series and i really enjoyed it, there are other longtime fans who disliked its unsatisfying end. Without spoiling anything I thought as a narrative choice it was interesting, and leaves me wanting more. i think this game is just teasing the inevitable third chapter. not necessarily a bad thing imo.

@Jimbowesker: well you need to play Human Revolution then to find out why this is happening :P

I am yet to play Mankind Divided (waiting for GOTY/Definitive edition with all DLCs, that's how I roll xD) but from what I've seen people are upset that it doesn't have the same atmosphere as HR and the story with its ending is very disappointing in comparison. I'm sure it's still good but HR set the bar so high I can see why Mankind Divided could disappoint many.

Have to try and judge it myself...

Please don't buy the season pass. They have only released 1 story DLC and this one which you can both pick up for 10 bucks. All the other DLC is crappy skin/weapon packs which give you game breaking extra praxis kits. Unless they release at least two more story DLC missions for 10 bucks a pop It's utterly insulting to be charging 30 bucks for the pass.

This just seems like another way for them to pull the "All your augments have been shut down, so you get to pick them again!" thing.

@Wraith3: They did say it was a prequel and he's going to a prison for augmented prisoners....that pretty much warrants his powers to be shutdown or activated at a later time.

Also giving them a valid story idea, I agree convoluted and a cheap way to get agency with the story (and done too many times in the Adam Jensen saga).

Cool. I don't know if I'll get it or not, but I like Mankind Divided so far.

Still haven't played much of Mankind Divided. Some things about it rub me wrong.

@saturatedbutter: I think its fine. For what it is, if we never had human revolution to compare, its an incredible game. Not as good as HR and leaves you with many unanswered questions, but as a tease for the inevitable third chapter im completely ok with how it turned out. The only thing that irked me was the lack of locational variety and the microtransactions being very stupid and pointless.

@saturatedbutter: It was a really disappointing sequel to me. Jensen's involvement in it just seems forced. Human Revolution was a story all about him. Mankind Divided he seemed incidental to the plot. It also doesn't help that the story seems to be cut off at the end. And it all taking place in one city is really boring especially when you have to go between sections with really long loading screens.

@catsimboy: Lame. I really liked Human Revolution and the expansion for it. I played through it a second time with director's commentary. Now I can barely force myself to do a few hours of the sequel.
