New Dead Space Could Happen, Devs Say
Dead Space's senior producer says that "there's interest" in returning to the series.
Dead Space's senior producer, Phil Ducharme, and creative director, Roman Campos-Oriola have shared that they are interested in exploring new ideas for the series, following the release of the Dead Space remake.
In an interview with GQ, Ducharme and Campos-Oriola spoke about the recent launch of Dead Space and looked back on how they adapted the original game from 15 years ago and shaped the horror game into something new. The developers discussed how the horror genre was niche in the mid-2000s, but think that the original game pushed horror in the direction of success "before it disappeared off the map," adding that the timing is now right for Dead Space's return.
On the topic of coming back to the series in the future, Ducharme said that "it's a hope that we have," and that there is "interest on [his] side and [he thinks] on Roman's side--you can see his smile--in exploring Dead Space more. There are ideas, that's for sure.
"We're finishing this week, we're going to be making sure that that launch goes well and that there are as few technical issues as possible. We're gonna be heading out on vacation and then we'll sit down and we'll have those discussions within EA to say, 'Well, what's next?'"
Motive Studios' Dead Space remake officially launched on January 27 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
