The new Dungeons & Dragons game Dark Alliance now has a release date: June 22. In addition to confirming the launch date, Wizards of the Coast released a gameplay trailer for the action RPG that provides an extended look at how the game plays. The trailer uses the Ozzy Osbourne song "Straight To Hell," which is quite fitting for the material in question.

Dark Alliance is developed by Tuque Games, and this is the first D&D video game to be published by Wizards of the Coast. President Chris Cocks said, "We're excited to expand beyond the tabletop and deliver [a] brand type of D&D experience to long-time fans and new audiences."

Dark Alliance is set in the Forgotten Realms, and it features real-time combat and co-op. Players will assume the roles of Drizzt Do'Urden, Catti-brie, Bruenor, and Wulfgar as they face off against D&D enemies like frost giants, Beholders, and white dragons.

"Dungeons & Dragons is the reason I became a game developer; it's a lifelong dream realized to be able to create something that is fun to play over and over again with your friends," Tuque Games studio head Jeff Hattem said. "Since announcing the game, we've worked to bring these iconic characters and monsters to life in a stunningly beautiful and fully realized world that makes you feel like you’re in the middle of combat encounters in D&D."

Dark Alliance launches June 22 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, as well as PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Those who purchase the game on PS4 will receive a free download code to upgrade to PS5, while this process happens automatically without a code on Xbox via Smart Delivery.

Pre-orders are now open for the digital edition ($40 USD) and the Steelbook edition ($60 USD) at retail, which comes with the special case, an art book, a D&D soundtrack, a Beholder and Lich weapon set, and the Echoes of the Blood War expansion in the future.

A Digital Deluxe Edition ($60 USD) that comes with the Echoes of the Blood War and the Lich weapon set is also now available. And everyone who pre-orders get the Beholder weapon set at launch.
