New Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Gameplay Shows Classic Level Looking Better Than Ever

Lookin' good.

Sony today released new gameplay of its upcoming platforming remaster, the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy.

The footage shows off the classic Crash Bandicoot 2 level Hang Eight, which is based around a bunch of waterfalls and rapids. Enemies such as the Venus Fly Trap are featured, as are a mid-level switch to a 2D segment and some classic platforming action--who doesn't love hopping on the back of a hippo? Take a look at the full video below.

The Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy includes three old-school Crash games: Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back, and Crash Bandicoot: Warped. They were all originally made by Naughty Dog, though Activision's Vicarious Visions is making the PlayStation 4 game.

Vicarious Visions used the original games' level geometry, but the gameplay is rebuilt from scratch. Some new features for the updated versions include a unified checkpoint and save system (including manual and auto-saving), as well as a unified menu system. There will also time trials available for each game.

The collection launches for PlayStation 4 on June 30, though it may not be exclusive to Sony's console. The original three games included in the pack, plus racing title Crash Team Racing and party game Crash Bash, were all exclusive to PlayStation in their original releases, but subsequent games in the series have appeared on multiple platforms.

For more on the remaster, check out this introductory cutscene.

Too bad the game is timed-exclusive, according to PlayStation of Ireland.

@ArchoNils2: It's way better to play the game that started on this platform (Sony) rather than Xbox, PC, or Even Nintendo.

Same logic applies to other exclusive IPs.

@desert_thief: That's some weird logic you have there. You can play the game on the "platform it started on", but what's wrong ith other people being able to play it on their fav. system?

@sakaixx: Pretty sure a PC version would look better and run at higher framerates like 144 hz or more which looks a lot better than just 60..so in that case no, it wouldn't be better played on PS4.. Now that's if they only announce a PC version.. If it did get a version on PC, it would pretty much wipe the floor with this version.

@7tizz: Yeah, if they remade CTR, I'd buy that for sure. Still the best Kart racer.

Also, CTR was only for the PS1. The Xbox game was Crash Nitro Kart, and Tag Team Racing. The original (and still best) Crash Team Racing was PS1 exclusive.

@7tizz: I too love Crash Team Racing as well, it was a nice change to get away from playing Mario Kart games but I do wish they included this remake but maybe in a DLC maybe? I like to go replay Crash Team Racing.

Ugh, whoever is playing it needs to get the damn controller away from cause he he/she miss a lot of box's and just miss the crystal which is the main goal of Crash games.

Enough of my rants, it looks good and will buy it day one.

@MarinZD: I only watch few clips just to play it safe for not knowing too much so I won't be spoiled despite I play the original Crash games many years ago. But it does looks really good in today's standards.

@davillain-: Then maybe you shouldn't comment on the video. He starts with some kind of speed run and ends with a normal playthrough. The first playthrough gave me hopes, that the gameplay will be great

I'm mainly worried about the controls - since it was built almost from the ground up, we don't know how snappy (or sluggish / sloppy) the controls might be. Hopefully it's fun to play

It's Crash 2. I have a lot of nostalgia for these games, but I don't know if they really hold up today.

@Mogan: Of course they do, they're solid platformers. As long as a game is good it will always be fun to play unless you never really enjoyed playing it to begin with.
