It has been three years since a new Kingdom Under Fire game has been released, but developer Blueside Inc has been working hard on the sequel. The company this week announced three main character classes for its upcoming game, with two more classes to be revealed later in the year. Kingdom Under Fire II will retain the series' action role-playing/real-time strategy roots and takes place in the war-torn Bersian continent.

The spellsword class is a dark elf female warrior who is known for mastery of ice magic and for her dexterity. Though lacking in strength, the spellsword fights enemies by dodging and initiating quick strikes while mixing in ice magic to debuff and slow down larger foes. To counterbalance her agility, she cannot wear heavy armor and is susceptible to heavy damage.

The gunslinger class is a human male fighter who uses a longsword for quick attacks. When confronted midrange, he pulls out his rifle and shoots at enemies clustered in the way. While their combination of long-range and melee combat helps, he isn't physically imposing and seems more of a "jack of all trades" character stats-wise.

The berserker class is an Encablossa (a mutant race) warrior channeling a special power that makes them deal more damage to oncoming enemies. In addition to a sword for melee-focused attacks, he possesses a gauntlet that unleashes a fiery blaze that complements his area-clearing sword swings--a mini-flamethrower so to speak. Because the berserker class is open to retaliation when pulling off wild melee attacks, he's fitted with a durable exoskeleton to withstand more damage than the rest of the classes.

The Korean open beta test for the PC version of Kingdom Under Fire II will start at the end of the year.
