The Chronicles of Narnia film series, based on the C.S. Lewis novels, has been dormant since 2010's Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Fans of the high fantasy series may be happy to learn today that Sony's Tri-Star Pictures is moving forward with a new film, based on Lewis' The Silver Chair.

It's in production in partnership with The C.S. Lewis Company, according to Deadline, while the late writer's stepson, Douglas Gresham, is producing the movie. Life of Pi writer David Magee is working on the script.

2005's The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe and 2008's Prince Caspian were produced by Disney, while Dawn Treader came from Fox. The three films have combined to make more than $1.6 billion at the global box office.

The Silver Chair is the fourth book in the Chronicles of Narnia series. According to Collider, the story begins decades after the events of Dawn Treader. Prince Caspian has a son and he goes missing, so Aslan the lion sends two children to Narnia in an effort to find him. Presumably the movie will follow the same storyline.

It sounds like early days for The Silver Chair. There are no details yet on who will star in and direct the movie or when it will be released.
