With major 2020 cinematic events like Tenet and Bill & Ted Face The Music currently creeping slowly into the rear view, one of this year's biggest cinematic events is starting to take center stage: Cats & Dogs 3: Paws Unite has just released its official trailer, which promises an October 9 debut in theaters. Check out the trailer below.

The movie, which will be finishing out the trilogy for a series that began back in 2001 with the spy action-comedy Cats & Dogs, takes place a decade after the events of 2010's Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore.

According to an official synopsis: "It's been 10 years since the creation of the Great Truce, an elaborate joint-species surveillance system designed and monitored by cats and dogs to keep the peace when conflicts arise. But when a tech-savvy villain hacks into wireless networks to use frequencies only heard by cats and dogs, he manipulates them into conflict, and the worldwide battle between cats and dogs is back on."

Paws Unite comes from a script by Scott Bindley (The Nut Job 3, The Last Summer), and is directed by Sean McNamara (3 Ninjas: High Noon at Mega Mountain, Soul Surfer). Its cast includes Melissa Rauch (The Big Bang Theory) as Gwen the cat, Max Greenfield (The Neighborhood, New Girl) as Roger the dog, and George Lopez as Pablo the Parrot.

The movie is slated to hit theaters October 9 after a digital release September 15.
