During a post-earnings financial call today, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot announced that the next installment in the Assassin's Creed franchise will launch in the company's fiscal 2014 (April 1, 2013 to March 31, 2014). The game will feature a new hero and will be set in a new time period.

No platforms for the new Assassin's Creed game were announced, though future consoles from Microsoft and Sony are rumored to launch later this year.

Previous reports suggested the next Assassin's Creed game could be set in Brazil and possibly feature co-op.

Assassin's Creed III is the latest entry in the series and has shipped more than 12 million units to date. That game is set in Colonial America and stars Connor Kenway, or Ratonhnhaké:ton.

In addition, Ubisoft addressed the future of the Far Cry brand, saying that "fans certainly won't have to wait four more years for the next Far Cry," according to Joystiq. A Far Cry 3 follow-up comes as little surprise, as the game has shipped 4.5 million units to date.
