Microsoft has released a new screenshot from its upcoming 3D real-time strategy game Age of Mythology. The new screenshot shows off more of the game's advanced visual effects, such as translucent water, footprints, and realistic vegetation. It depicts a desert oasis with a large statue of a sphinx, and soldiers, hippos, and crocodiles can be seen partially and fully submerged in the water.

Age of Mythology is set in an ancient world in which gods, heroes, and mythological creatures take part in the struggle between three civilizations. Players can assume control of the ancient Greeks, Egyptians, or Norse. The game is in development at Ensemble Studios, the company that developed the popular Age of Empires real-time strategy game series, and it is scheduled for release in the spring of 2002.
