New Age of Mythology screen

Ensemble Studios, creator of the popular Age of Empires real-time strategy game series, has released a new screenshot from its upcoming 3D real-time strategy game, Age of Mythology. The new screenshot displays an overhead view of a large battle between the ancient Egyptians and the ancient Greeks.

As its name implies, Age of Mythology is set in an ancient world that includes mythical gods, heroes, and creatures. Players will control one of three civilizations--the ancient Greeks, Norse, or Egyptians--in a war for dominance of the land. Each civilization has a different set of units, heroes, creatures, and gods.

The game uses a proprietary 3D engine that supports dynamic lighting and shadows, translucent water, and other advanced effects. Age of Mythology will be published by Microsoft in mid-2002. For more information, take a look at our in-depth preview of the game.
