BioWare has announced that Neverwinter Nights, its long-awaited Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game, has gone gold and will ship to stores later this month. The game, which is being published by Infogrames under the Atari label, is based on the 3rd Edition Dungeons & Dragons rules, and it includes an extensive single-player campaign as well as an innovative dungeon master system that lets players create and run adventures for up to 64 players per server.

"Finally, PC gamers the world over can breathe--their dream computer game is complete and only days away from their PCs," said Jean-Philippe Agati, senior vice president and general manager of Infogrames' Los Angeles studio. "Neverwinter Nights has lived up to all of its promises--engaging and exciting single-player campaign, a groundbreaking multiplayer component, never-before-seen user editing abilities and, for the first time ever, a true translation of the D&D dungeon master to electronic entertainment."

The game's single-player storyline is set in the Forgotten Realms medieval fantasy universe, and it includes approximately 60 to 100 hours of gameplay. The game also comes with the Aurora Neverwinter toolset, the same tools that the developers used to create the single-player game.

Neverwinter Nights will be available in stores by the end of June for an approximate retail price of $54.99. For more information, take a look at our extensive preview coverage of the game.
