NetherRealm still working on Mortal Kombat after all - Boon
WBIE's gory fighting series will go on as developer clarifies the studio is currently working on projects both within and apart from famed franchise.
At the Spike TV Video Game Awards on Saturday, NetherRealm head honcho Ed Boon said the developer is working on something other than Mortal Kombat. Fans of the fighting franchise needn't fret, as Boon has since clarified that those other projects are in addition to, and not in place of, Mortal Kombat.

Boon posted the clarification on his Twitter account, saying, "NetherRealm has a number of projects in the works. Not JUST Mortal Kombat. :)" A separate response to a fan inquiry explicitly stated, "NetherRealm is working on MK and non-MK games!"
Boon also dropped a few hints regarding future projects, saying the studio's recent Batman: Arkham City Lockdown was just one of multiple surprises it has on the way. Another tease came with Boon's response to the prospect of an Unreal Engine-powered MK appearing on iOS, as the developer simply remarked, "Hmmm…"
Last week, NetherRealm released its first game outside the Mortal Kombat franchise, the Unreal-powered Batman: Arkham City Lockdown for iOS. The game is a mobile brawler offshoot of Rocksteady's Dark Knight games built on the Unreal engine.
