During Geeked Week Day 2, Netflix released a new trailer for The Criminal Book Club, its Spanish-language slasher adaptation of the novel by Carlos García Miranda. As of this writing, there is no announced release date for the film.

Directed by Carlos Alonso-Ojea and with a script by Miranda, The Criminal Book Club stars Veki Velilla, Álvaro Mel, Priscilla Delgado, Iván Pellicer, Ane Rot, Carlos Alcaide, Hamza Zaidi and María Cerezuela. According to Netflix's caption text for the trailer, the "mysterious youngsters" will cross paths in their reading club with a "creepy clown." Check out the clip below, which--for people who are afraid of clowns--does not feature the clown.

A translated synopsis in part suggests that in The Criminal Book Club, a group of people are complicit in a "costume joke that ends in a fatal accident and a pact of silence," and the kids are "threatened by an anonymous writer who wants to reveal their dark secret." Their stalker threatens to post a bloody horror novel based on them on social media--and at the end of each chapter, one friend in the group will die. As their trust erodes, the group "fights for survival in the middle of a university campus… any one of them could be the next victim, or the killer."
