Netflix has confirmed that The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is coming to an end. Its upcoming fourth season will be its last, the streaming network announced on Wednesday.

Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa said in a statement (via THR): "Working on Chilling Adventures of Sabrina has been an incredible honor from day one."

He added: "I am beyond thankful to the crew, writers, editors, assistants, and everyone for pouring so much love into this dark dream of a show. I'm also grateful to our partners at Netflix, Warner Bros., Berlanti Television, and Archie Comics for letting us tell the story we wanted to tell, the way we wanted to tell it. We can't wait for everyone to see part four."

Kiernan Shipka plays Sabrina in the show, which is far darker and edgier than the more family friendly version of the show starring Melissa Joan Hart in the late '90s show.

In addition to Shipka, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina stars Lord of the Rings' Mirando Otto as her aunt Zelda and Wonder Woman's Lucy Davis as her other aunt Helga. The cat Salem is also in the show, but he doesn't talk like he did on the '90s show.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina generated some amount of controversy after the Satanic Temple sued Netflix and production company Warner Bros. for $50 million over the show's use of the Temple's goat-headed Baphomet creature. The companies eventually settled amicably.

Man this show had such a cool vibe to it, love the atmosphere and style and the casting choices but I HATE the writing, its like that cringey Riverdale style writing. but i guess thats who they are tying to draw, its obviously geared toward young female demographic but i feel liek this show can be more broadened. and even the target demographic barley seems to be watching it hence why its ending

@mooglestar: the girl they casted is a beauty. She is way hotter than Ruby Rose, only thing i have an issue is when they cast a different race than the source material. i just hate that crap.

either way no matter who they cast the shows writing was abysmal, so its not gonna fix the show, but eh new girl is gorgeous and an upgrade over Ruby Rose, she probably will be an even better actress. but ehh...show will still suck lol

@alastor529: Honestly Ruby Rose is completely overrated in my opinion. And well, to change the source material, it's just how things are now I guess. Like everything seems to be girls now, from Ghost Busters to Ocean's 11. The next Monster Hunter is all girl powery too. I love strong female characters, but dang mix it up a bit. And bet your butt once the source material is white that definitely has to change now. God forbid.
