Netflix's Nightstalker True Crime Docuseries Gets Trailer And Release Date

One of America's most notorious serial killers is Richard Ramirez, better known as Los Angeles' Nightstalker. Netflix has had much success with various true crime docuseries in the past like Tiger King and Wild Wild Country, as well as with dramatized series about serial killers like Mindhunter. And coming this January, Netflix will take on the notorious murderer, telling his tale to a whole new generation.

Coming to Netflix on January 13, the four-part limited series will be directed by Tiller Russell (The Seven Five), and the first trailer for the upcoming show is pretty terrifying. Check it out for yourself below.

Some may be vaguely familiar with the Nightstalker, as a fictionalized version of him appeared in last year's season of American Horror Story. However, this version of the character is a bit more unsettling, as there wasn't a pattern to his horrific crimes.

"In the sweltering summer of 1985, a record-breaking heatwave hit Los Angeles, along with a series of murders and sexual assaults that at first seemed disconnected," reads the official synopsis for the show. "The victims were men, women, and children. They ranged in age from six to 82. They came from different neighborhoods, racial backgrounds and socioeconomic levels. Never before in criminal history had a single killer been responsible for such a grisly array of crimes. Racing against the clock to stop this nocturnal monster were a young detective named Gil Carrillo from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the legendary homicide investigator Frank Salerno. As they worked tirelessly to solve the case, the media hounded their tracks, and panic gripped California."

The series will mix original photography, archival footage, and first-person interviews to tie together the narrative. Russell will also executive produce alongside Tim Walsh, Eli Holzman, and Aaron Saidman.
