The first trailer for Zack Snyder's Army of the Dead is here. The highly anticipated zombie action movie will be released by Netflix on May 21.

The promo is fairly short and focuses more on action and striking imagery than plot or characters. The movie centers on a group of mercenaries who team up to raid a casino in Las Vegas during a zombie apocalypse, and there's lots of footage of Vegas being overrun by the undead. There's also brief shots of some of the cast, including Dave Bautista and Omari Hardwick, and an appearance from a zombie Elvis. Check it out below:

Army of the Dead also stars Ella Purnell, Ana de la Reguera, Garret Dillahunt, Theo Rossi, and Tig Notaro. It's directed and co-written by Snyder, who previously stated that he started writing it back in 2004, shortly after he directed the remake of the zombie classic Dawn of the Dead. However, it spent many years trapped in development before Netflix stepped in to finance it.

There's also an animated spin-off series on the way, which is titled Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas and will also be released by Netflix. The voicecast for this show includes Christian Slater, Joe Manganiello, Vanessa Hudgens, and Jena Malone. The series doesn't have a release date yet, but we know Snyder will direct two episodes.

In related news, Snyder's four hour reworking of the DC movie Justice League hits HBO Max on March 18. It has been confirmed that the movie will be released internationally on the same day, across a variety of digital platforms.
