Netflix Will Release Tiger King 2 Later This Year

Tiger King 2 is on the way. Netflix has announced that a sequel to its hugely popular true crime series will arrive later this year.

Tiger King 2 is part of Netflix's upcoming slate of new true crime shows and movies. The streaming giant promises "more madness and mayhem," and a trailer released to promote the slate reveals that Tiger King 2 will pick up after the events of the first season. We see incarcerated former zoo keeper Joe Exotic on the phone from jail, his rival Carole Baskin striding down a corridor, and a billboard advertising a $1 million reward for solving the disappearance of Baskin's husband Don Lewis. There are four other upcoming Netflix true crime shows, all of which will arrive in 2022. They are:

• The Puppet Master: Hunting the Ultimate Conman - a three-part series telling the jaw-dropping story of one of the world's most audacious conmen.
• The Tinder Swindler - a movie about a prolific conman who posed as a billionaire playboy on Tinder,
• Trust No One: The Hunt for the Crypto King - a movie that follows a group of investors turned sleuths as they try to unlock the suspicious death of cryptocurrency multimillionaire.
• Bad Vegan - a series about celebrity restaurateur Sarma Melngailis becomes the "Vegan Fugitive" when she's conned out of millions by a man who convinces her that he can expand her food empire.

Tiger King was released in March 2020, and, according to Netflix, was watched by 64 million households in the first four weeks on the service. There's also a live-action version of the story in the works at Peacock, which will star Kate McKinnon as Carole Baskin and John Cameron Mitchell as Joe Exotic. Sadly, however, the rival version that was set to star Nicolas Cage as Exotic is no longer happening.
