The comic series follows the adventures of the Bone cousins, Phoney, Smiley, and Fone Bone. They go on adventures across the fantasy-driven world and come across the evil Lord of the Locusts, a terrorizing threat to humanity. It is the epitome of a hero's journey tale.

"I've waited a long time for this," Smith said in a press release. "Netflix is the perfect home for Bone. Fans of the books know that the story develops chapter by chapter and book by book. An animated series is exactly the way to do this! The team at Netflix understands Bone and is committed to doing something special - this is good news for kids and cartoon lovers all over the world."

At the time of this writing, it is unknown when Bone will debut on Netflix.
