Netflix has released a new trailer for Beckett, an upcoming drama/thriller directed by Ferdinando Cito Filomarino (Antonia). The film will hit the streaming service on August 13.

Check out the trailer below which, well, kinda puts a damper on plans we all might have had to leave quarantine behind, and go on vacation--everything's going great for Beckett (John David Washington) on vacation until his girlfriend disappears, he gets shot by the police, and R&R is increasingly taken out of the picture.

Beckett's synopsis reads in full: "While vacationing in Greece, American tourist Beckett becomes the target of a manhunt after a devastating accident. Forced to run for his life and desperate to get across the country to the American embassy to clear his name, tensions escalate as the authorities close in, political unrest mounts, and Beckett falls even deeper into a dangerous web of conspiracy."

In addition to Washington (Tenet), the film also stars Alicia Vikander (Tomb Raider), Boyd Holbrook (In the Shadow of the Moon), and Vicky Krieps (Phantom Thread). Originally titled Born to be Murdered, Netflix acquired the distribution rights in October 2020. The movie is set to have its world premiere at the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland on August 4, mere days before it comes to Netflix.

Beckett comes from a screenplay by Kevin A. Rice, and is produced by Luca Guadagnino, Marco Morabito, Francesco Melzi d’Eril, and Gabriele Moratti.
