NBA Live soundtrack goes platinum

The soundtrack for EA Sports' latest basketball game is the first video game soundtrack to go platinum.

Electronic Arts has announced that, according to the Recording Industry Association of America, the soundtrack for NBA Live 2003 has reached platinum status, meaning the soundtrack has sold more than 1 million units. The soundtrack was compiled by Electronic Arts' EA Trax label, which secures new music from popular artists for various Electronic Arts games.

"EA is committed to delivering the best music in the industry within our games," said Steve Schnur, worldwide executive of music for Electronic Arts. "The success of the NBA Live 2003 soundtrack shows that we are connecting with our fans."
