Electronic Arts has announced the shipment of NBA Live 2001 for the Sony PlayStation 2. The seventh edition of the popular NBA Live series, the game will also be the first to be released on the newest generation of console platforms. The versatile Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Garnett is the game's cover athlete, and Garnett was also involved in the motion-capture work done during the game's development.

"I am proud to be associated with a product like NBA Live 2001, and it's really nice to be featured on the cover, especially since it's the first NBA game for the PlayStation 2," said Garnett. "I've been playing this game since the beginning, and I believe that 2001's off-the-hook gameplay, combined with the PlayStation 2 graphics, make NBA Live 2001 for the PlayStation 2 the best basketball video game ever."

The PS2 version of NBA Live 2001 carries a suggested retail price of US$49.95.
