Naughty Dog Artist Reveals Fantasy Art With A Dragon, But It's Not The Studio's Next Game

The artwork looks fantastic, but it was inspired by Assassin's Creed Valhalla and not Naughty Dog's next game.

Recently, a Naughty Dog artist uploaded some medieval fantasy artwork, with the artist saying the drawings were inspired by "the new game." This prompted speculation that Naughty Dog was working on a medieval fantasy game next, but that might not be the case.

The artist in question told IGN that the artwork was actually inspired by Assassin's Creed Valhalla, and may not be representative of what Naughty Dog is working on next. The images were posted to ArtStation as part of the "The Women of North" series. The artwork included images of a knight sitting next to a slain dragon and another where the character is wielding a staff with a skull on the end.

A fantasy game would be a big change of pace for Naughty Dog, which most recently created games in the Uncharted and Last of Us franchises in the action, adventure, and post-apolcayptic genres.

As for what Naughty Dog is working on, the studio has confirmed it's developing a new Last of Us multiplayer experience, while the studio has also ramped up hiring for "something cool."

Outside of games, Naughty Dog's Neil Druckmann is working with Chernobyl's Craig Mazin to write the script for HBO's Last of Us TV show. An Uncharted movie is in the works, too, and it was recently delayed to 2022.
