TOKYO--Namco announced today that one of its board members, Shigeichi Ishimura, age 51, will become the company's new president on April 1, the beginning of Namco's new business year. Ishimura is currently head of Namco's mobile division. Koichi Tashiro will now move into that role.

With the change, Namco's current president, Kyushiro Takagi, age 61, will step up to vice chairman of the company. Namco founder and chairman Masaya Nakamura, age 79, will remain in his current role.

This year marks Namco's 50th anniversary; these moves are designed to bring the company in line with current marketplace conditions, according to a Namco statement.
