Namco announced it would be bringing the latest installment of its Smash Court Tennis series to the PlayStation 2. This will mark the first time the series, which first started on the original PlayStation in 1996, will come to the US. The arcade-style game will offer a selection of well-known players including Andre Agassi, Pete Sampras, Patrick Rafter, Yevgeny Kafelnikov, Martina Hingis, Lindsay Davenport, Monica Seles, and Anna Kournikova. In addition, the game will include four original players, plus some more surprises. The game will offer the chance to compete in such competitions as Wimbledon, the US Open, and the Australian Open.

Smash Court PS2 will offer five game modes: arcade, pro tournament, challenge, exhibition, and time attack. The game will support up to four players with a multitap for doubles competition. A bonus trophy room will also be included where you can earn prizes based on your winnings.

Smash Court Tennis Pro Tournament is set to release in spring 2002.
