Namco Announces Cyber Read II

Namco of Japan on Monday announced its new arcade machine called Cyber Read II. It will have slots available for the PlayStation and the PlayStation2 memory cards, as well as Dreamcast visual memory units. Currently, two titles - Namco's Super World Stadium 2000 and Tomy's Toukon Retsuden 4 Arcade Edition - will use the Cyber Read II. Players can use data of the character they trained in the PlayStation version of World Stadium 4 (scheduled for a March 23 release in Japan) and the Dreamcast version of Toukon Retsuden 4 (currently available in Japan) respectively. The arcade machine can use Namco's own System 12 arcade board, as well as Sega's NAOMI board.

Cyber Read II will be hitting Japanese arcades starting in March. With the recently reported news that Marvel vs. Capcom 2 will not have the Dreamcast VMU port for the American arcades, chances of seeing the Cyber Read II arcade machine may be slim. We'll keep you posted.
