Film production company dj2 Entertainment has announced that, in collaboration with Legendary Television, it will produce a television series of Devolver Digital's shoot-em-up My Friend Pedro.

The series is set to be an R-rated, half-hour dramedy written and executive produced by John Wick creator Derek Kolstad, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Devolver Digital's co-founder, Mike Wilson, will also executive produce, alongside John Wick co-director David Leitch and others. Additional details--such as cast and crew, release date, network, and more--have yet to be announced. It's worth noting that John Wick 4 has been delayed by a full year, releasing now in May 2022.

This news comes not long after dj2 Entertainment announced that another video game, Disco Elysium, would be getting the TV adaptation treatment. Details on this production are also scarce, with dj2 currently working on several other video game-based adaptations including Life is Strange, Ruiner, Sleeping Dogs, and more.

My Friend Pedro is a 2D side-scrolling shoot-em-up that follows an unnamed protagonist's bullet-soaked escapade through the criminal underworld, led purely by the request of a sentient banana named Pedro. The game launched in 2019 on Nintendo Switch, PC, and Xbox One, with a PS4 port arriving in April 2020. We scored it a 7/10 in our My Friend Pedro review, saying, "When it dedicates itself to letting you be inventive and weird with how you rack up your kills, My Friend Pedro is wildly enjoyable."
