Modern Warfare 3 is set to have a ton of maps for standard multiplayer, as a new Call of Duty blog confirms that some of 2022's Modern Warfare 2 maps will be returning this year as post-launch content with the new "Carry Forward" program.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 launches on November 10 with all 16 maps remastered from 2009's Modern Warfare 2. Activision previously confirmed that both brand-new and remastered maps would be added as seasonal content for post-launch. Now, this latest blog post announces that select maps from last year's Modern Warfare 2 will arrive in addition to the already-announced DLC map list.

Now Playing: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Everything to Know

The initial set of returning maps includes Farm 18, Mercado, and Shoot House. These maps will be available shortly after launch in a dedicated playlist, with more 2022 maps to follow throughout later seasons.

These maps are graphically identical to how they appeared in Modern Warfare 2, and they will not be available for Modern Warfare 3's new modes. Additionally, the blog post mentions that the maps may play differently due to the innovations to movement and general gameplay mechanics found in Modern Warfare 3.

Last year's maps transferring to Modern Warfare 3 is just another facet of Call of Duty's new Carry Forward program, which carries over most items from Modern Warfare 2 to Modern Warfare 3. This includes the entire weapon pool, camos, most vehicle skins, and those pricey operator bundles.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 launches on November 10, but you can start playing the campaign as early as November 2 if you preordered a digital copy. Make sure to check out everything we know so far about Modern Warfare 3, including campaign details, Zombies, and more.
