Now Playing: Blizzard Has Multiple Diablo Projects In The Works - GS News Update

Blizzard has dropped some news on Twitter regarding the dungeon-crawling Diablo series. In addition to saying it would continue using themes for future seasons of Diablo III, community manager Brandy Camel said in a video that Blizzard is currently working on multiple other Diablo projects.

"The forges here at Blizzard are burning hot, and we have multiple Diablo projects in the works," Camel said. "Some of them are going to take longer than others, but we may have some things to show you later this year."

That's all the new information we got, but this isn't the first hint we've seen that Blizzard is working on new Diablo games. A job listing for a dungeon artist appeared on the company's website earlier this year. The listing said it was for an "unannounced Diablo game." Whether that would be a full sequel to Diablo III or some kind of spinoff was unclear.

A Blizzard Twitter post from February, showing a demonic nightlight flicking on and off, also sparked rumors that Diablo III was heading for Nintendo Switch, although Blizzard denied it, saying, "We can assure you we're not that clever." Even so, Eurogamer said its sources confirmed a Switch port is, in fact, in the works.

As for Diablo III, its 14th season was based on the theme of greed. As such, all Treasure Goblin spawns were doubled, so when one Goblin would normally appear, two appeared instead, doubling the amount of loot players could collect if they were fast enough to slay them both. According to Camel, upcoming seasons will also have themes.

I think it's Diablo 4. A remaster doesn't need that much of modeling artists and programmers. It's not a remake either, blizzard hates remakes for some reason, that's why they never remade a game.

Heres what i wouldn't mind seeing:

Diablo 2 Remastered: Give it the Starcraft Remastered treatment...give out the non-remastered version for free.

Diablo 1 for Digital Distribution: Sorry Blizzard, but I can't afford $70 for an original copy of the game. Get this game in your store.

Diablo 3 on the Switch: Diablo 3 on to go, self explanatory.

or you know...Diablo 4.

This will never happen but I would like a arpg like Diablo set in the Warcraft or StarCraft universe. That would be sweet. Or Warcraft 4, but I am starting to think that is never going to happen.

Warcraft 4? Hello? I don't want another Real Money Auction House money extraction program.

Avatar image for Warlord_Irochi

@Thanatos2k: The auction house has been gone for more than 4 years already. The game has come to be a very good one after changes based on community feedback. Which is exactly how a company is supposed to behave after they mess up something.

You should try to prioritise comon sense and criteria when reacting to news over your obsession to be edgy and rant about everything: that's what we don't need in Gamespot; childish rants from somebody desperate for attention.

Avatar image for Gazdakka

@Warlord_Irochi: So did they make the PC version offline-playable for single player yet? No?

Then it's shit.

Avatar image for Thanatos2k

@Warlord_Irochi: Speaking of, your comment fits in. Activision has never met a dollar it didn't want to extract from its playerbase.

The game still pales in comparison to Diablo 2.

I see Diablo turning into a pay as you play model. The $15 Necromancer was an experiment with legitimate new content that worked really well. I could see Blizzard charging $20 or $25 for each hero category, every 6 months or so - and there would be a bonus EXP perk if you bought them on time rather than waiting for a discount.

Oh boy..."Diablo Mobile" and "Diablo the Card Game" incoming. Frankly, the "real money auction house" and deliberate tuning of the game to force you to spend money in it way back at the beginning was the end of the line for me as far as Diablo is concerned, which is sad, because I remember many a late night with one of my roommates playing Diablo 1 while sharing a bottle of Jim Beam back in the ole college days. Probably the only thing that would make me bother with the franchise again would be a full-on current-tech remake of Diablo 2, which I missed out on playing while in law school.

Avatar image for Mogan

@esqueejy: Why would you not check Diablo 3 out once the real money auction house was gone and the end game got re-tuned?

Avatar image for esqueejy

@Mogan: Because her emails.

Haha...Kidding. No really...her emails.

Actually, it was primarily because I had just soured on it too much to want to be bothered and had moved on to other games. The offensiveness of what they had tried to do to the gaming community was too much for me to forgive on that game. I'm sure alot of people felt that way or, for example, felt that way about Battlefront 2.

Avatar image for sweet_jcs

@esqueejy: I returned it and got a refund after the real money auction house shit came out. I beat the game in like 2 days and then asked for a refund. Years later I bought the complete version for like $20.

Avatar image for NaturallyEvil

@sweet_jcs: Where did you find the complete game for $20? Did you get most of it on sale for $5 somewhere and then add in the $15 Necromancer?

Avatar image for sweet_jcs

@NaturallyEvil: Gamestop had a sale last year, it was for the Evil addition, so I don't think that had the necromancer.

Avatar image for Mogan

@esqueejy: You do you, but that seems weirdly punitive to me.

A diablo mobile is more than likely followed by probably some ccg diablo themed or those asian conquest games RRRR where you just hit auto like lineage mobile and it fights for you.

Since Blizzard has no way to take the diablo franchise out of the sewer with Diablo 3 other than do a full reboot, the Path of Exile shadow will be always hovering over any ARPG, why would they even invest money in diablo? Arent they losing money monthly by keeping Hots alive, even heartstone has barely any relevance other than the paid articles they commission and then copy paste on gamesites.

Better they stick to keep using CPR on WoW to pump some cash, we already saw the joke overwatch league is , at least the people that invested there had money to waste and learn from it.

Take a good look a Blizzards stock history, then erase your comment please. Theyve been doing fine, and will continue to do fine lol.

Avatar image for s1taz4a3l

@pongman75: Their revenue has been shrinking yearly, why do you think they fired HS director, because they are "fine" as you say? All the people that helped create the diablo universe left blizzard already or where put on menial jobs and quit but according to you they are fine, there was a time when blizzard name had resonance now they are on the fast track to become Biowares Ea´s.

They need a massive homerun which i doubt they´ll manage to pull.

Cant wait for 2050 for the next diablo project to emerge!

Avatar image for DAOWAce

Diablo mobile.

Diablo clicker.

World of Sta--Diablo.

Avatar image for Decoy77

@DAOWAce: Activision wanting to jump on the bandwagon wouldn't shock me at all. If one of the games isn't some mobile cash grab I'd be shocked.

"multiple diablo projects in the works"

coming in 2019 Diablo battle royale

I'm glad to see they finally listened.

@Pyrosa: That could actually be fun

D2 Remaster, otherwise im only slightly interested.

Avatar image for Kezzy123

that would be epic.

Heck they "may" be in a position to redo the d2 game with the d3 engine for the graphics and physics.

'We're working hard on another character for our beloved six year old game, Diablo 3! Get it now for only 75% the cost of the game itself!'

Avatar image for pongman75

@lionheartssj1: Ill buy it day 1... so watcha sayin?

Avatar image for lionheartssj1

@pongman75: What I'm saying is...I have a bridge to sell you. ;)

Avatar image for gamingdevil800

@lionheartssj1: And Blizzard has the power to make fan boys pay for it.

The real-money auction house was a glimpse at what Activision Blizzard wants to see from the Diablo franchise. I will pass. The next game will have some new way to try to milk the fanbase, mark my words. Only time will tell if the casual fan will roll over and take it in the wet spot. Like they did with Overwatch.

Avatar image for Kezzy123

They are the new EA. The auction house, free to play games like HOTS, overwatch super stingy and malicious (prey on gambler addicts) lootboxes. Etc etc. They have no boundaries to their greed now so any future project is for the most part doomed.

Avatar image for Mogan

@RossRichard: Never mind the the real money auction house was removed years ago based on negative fan feedback, and Diablo III has seen a bunch of free support and improvement for the last half decade. No, let's just focus on the thing they did wrong a long time ago.

Avatar image for jerky_666

@Mogan: free support and improvement for a gigantic pile of shit doesn't really help that much.

Avatar image for Mogan

@jerky_666: Diablo 3 wasn't even a pile of **** when it launched, and once they re-tuned the end game and removed the auction house, it's been the best Diablo yet, easily.

But, that wasn't even my point. Don't ignore the improvements and support a game has got just so you can harp on a bad feature that was removed and fixed years ago.

Avatar image for jerky_666

@Mogan: What bad feature am I harping on exactly? The whole fucking game was (and continues to be) fucking embarrassing.

Avatar image for pongman75

@jerk_off666, 30 million plus copies is embarrassing?
