Muhammad Ali Boxing 3D E3 2005 First Look

We sit down with SuperScape and chat about its new Muhammad Ali-licensed boxing game.

We got a brief glimpse at SuperScape's Muhammad Ali Boxing, which, despite being very early in development, looks like it will make good use of both the boxing dynamic and the Muhammad Ali license. The perspective is first person and it will contain some sparring fights, three major title fights, and ultimately a match against the champion, Muhammad Ali himself. SuperScape plans to make use of Muhammad Ali's voice and likeness, as well as make reference to notable opponents of his, even if they are not specifically licensed.

Gameplay will consist of both fights and training minigames that will help boost up your skills in the ring. SuperScape's aim is to make the game the mobile spiritual heir to Fight Night, with visual feedback to indicate the status of your fighter instead of displaying it all on a HUD. The company also plans to include a knockout minigame, similar to Fight Night's, where you will have to earn your right to fight again after being knocked out.

There will be four different environments for the fights, including big city locations like New York and London, which will vary slightly in appearance from one another. There are also plans for quite a few crowd effects, with both visual and aural feedback. Although the game is still in the early stages of development, it exhibited a lifelike quality that should be interesting once fully implemented.

Although there's no release date set in stone, Muhammad Ali Boxing is due out sometime this year. We'll have more information on the game once it's further along.
