Ripcord Games has renamed its urban shooter for the Sega Dreamcast and PC. Originally titled Military Operations in Urban Terrain 2025, the game is will now be known under the title Shrapnel Urban Warfare 2025. The game's back-story remains virtually unchanged and it sounds a bit like the plot of the popular film Red Dawn. In the year 2018, a communist terrorist group launches a full-scale nuclear attack on the United States, killing 220 million people and destroying 80 percent of the military defense force. Following the occupation of most US territories, a poorly organized rebel army made up of US National Guard members, law enforcement officials, and reservists launches a series of suicide attacks against the terrorists in the western United States and Alaska. The player takes on the role of one of these rebel outfits.

Using the Lithtech engine, Shrapnel immerses players in both day and night missions. Through detailed urban landscapes, players will use both the first and third-person camera perspectives. The game will feature eight different multiplayer modes and network support for both the PC and Dreamcast versions.
