Metal Gear fans won't want to miss Gamescom.

Konami on Monday announced that it will launch a new trailer for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain during the big-time European gaming show on Wednesday, August 5. People at the show itself, meanwhile, can play an Afghanistan mission called "A Hero's Way."

Gamescom marks the first time The Phantom Pain will be playable to the public. The show runs August 5-9.

As for the new Phantom Pain trailer, it will highlight "all-new footage" for the game's Mother Base component and more. Here is Konami's official description.

"The specially created video will detail building options and unique customization elements," it said. "The video will also explain the game's multiplayer FOB (Forward Operating Base) feature, wherein users can establish additional bases around the globe to manage captured resources--and demonstrate for the first time--how users can infiltrate other players' FOB bases to steal resources as well."

Konami adds that the video is meant to highlight The Phantom Pain's "strategic heart."

Last week, series creator Hideo Kojima shared the Mother Base image you see embedded here. It's likely that this will be the Mother Base on display in the upcoming trailer.

According to GameSpot's sources, Kojima will leave Konami after the game ships on September 1. Just recently, a Nikkei report exposed the troubling culture inside of Konami.
