Epic Games doesn't have an E3 press conference, but the company still has news to share at the big show. The company today announced more exclusives coming to the Epic Games Store and that it's extending the store's free games offer for the duration of 2019.

Starting with the game announcements, titles like Shenmue 3, Untitled Goose Game, Zombie Army 4: Dead War, Auto Chess, and Chivalry 2 will be timed exclusives or have exclusive benefits for the Epic Games Store. In addition to those, titles like Atomicrops, Cyberpunk 2077, Griftlands, The Pathless, Phantom Brigade, Rune II, The Soujourn, Twin Mirror, Solar Ash Kingdom, and What The Golf? These titles are not exclusive to the Epic Games Store, however.

As for the free game deal, Epic announced that it's extending the offer for the duration of 2019. That means you can grab a free game every week until the end of the year. Right now, Kingdom New Lands until June 13, while Enter the Gungeon the week after.

Steam-bots hate change now just like DVD-bots hated change 15 years ago.

I’m loving this. Epic games is the new hero in the gaming industry.

@jsprunk: No, it's not. Only an idiot would think that. All Epic is doing is trying to replace one monopoly with another. That's not competition.

@pound-u: I can tell you don't understand the meaning of the word competition, and your ad hom insults prove my point.

Good on them. Valve can cut their share to 12% but they won't so F them.

@gargar: Not sure they can. They have to factor in things like gift cards and other stuff. Walmart wants a cut of that.

Epic is a disgrace, but so are lying developers who take the bag of cash in exchange for their dignity without one care for their customers.

Exclusives are one thing but when a publisher and developer take money from people with the promise of one thing and then later crap on them for an exclusive to another store it's just wrong. I honestly hope shenmue 3 fails hard now. I hope epic has to pay for hundreds of thousands of copies. Epic and these companies that take people's money and then change the terms are very anti consumer. Kickstarter honestly seems like a big scam for the most part anyway. This just adds to that reputation. Changing the terms like this should not be allowed.

So many shortsighted companies these days willing to take the easy money now and sacrifice their reputation in the long term. It’s too bad that you can’t calculate a real, tangible value on reputation. Maybe all these companies wouldn’t be so quick to jeopardize theirs if you could.

CDPR should keep Cyberpunk 2077 from launching on Epic Games Store for a year, unless Epic releases their hostaged exclusives that nobody asked for.

I used to like Deep Silver, but now they're playing around in Tim Sweeney's underwear drawer. Still it's easy to wait for the Steam version though.

I already got my physical pre-order from Kick Starter.

Just buy it on PS4 or wait, nobody needs to play this game on a high-end PC.

@fanboyman: Don't have one because of Sony's BS with paid online multiplayer. Had they not sank to that level, I might have bought one. However, for those with a console, I'd like to encourage you to buy the console versions of these games from these people making their games Epic exclusive secondhand if possible to minimize the amount of cash they get.

How TF is Shenmue 3 an epic exclusive when it's already listed on Steam!?

Does that mean that the game won't unlock on Steam until 6 months after it's release??

@Simulator_Shock: It's worse. It's not a timed exclusive, it's JUST AN EXCLUSIVE. After promising Steam versions to people who gave them money, now there will never be a Steam version.

https://imgur.com/U2xWa0t

It's a 100% pure screwjob. They should be sued.

@Barighm: That sounds pretty shady, especially when the Epic Game Store wasn't a thing when the Kickstarter was raising funds. Though, to play Devil's Advocate, I don't think the Kickstarter specifically mentioned Steam (or any other particular storefront) when talking about the PC version.

Still...it seems ill-advised to pull these kind of shenanigans with a crowd-funded project. You're bound to burn some bridges that way (especially when the Epic Game Store is objectively inferior as a storefront to the alternatives).
