Morbius: Leaked Photo Of Jared Leto As The Marvel Anti-Hero Surfaces - Report

Could this be what Morbius, the Living Vampire will look like? We hope so.

Sony is continuing to build its own little Marvel universe outside of the well-established MCU. This July, the movie Morbius arrives, and an alleged photo of the film's star Jared Leto as the titular vampiric anti-hero has leaked online. [Update: You can now get an even better look at Leto's version of the character, as the first Morbius trailer has been released. Surprisingly, it bears what appear to be some MCU connections, despite the fact that the Sony-produced film was expected to be entirely unrelated, as was the case with Venom. For much more on that, check out our Mobius trailer breakdown.]

While the photo of Leto in the Morbius makeup is not confirmed by Sony, its arrival online is interesting as rumors of a trailer coming soon have been circulating. The upcoming film will follow a biochemist who tries to cure a rare blood disease he has but ends up turning himself into a vampire. You can see the photo for yourself below.

If this is in fact a still from the supposed upcoming trailer, most Marvel fans should be pretty pleased, as they nailed the look of this iconic character. Morbius made his Marvel Comics debut in 1971 when he appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #101. The character was created by the legendary Roy Thomas and Gil Kane.

In early 2019, Jared Leto released a photo when production began, but there wasn't much to glean from it. The film will be directed by Daniel Espinosa (Life, Safe House), and joining Leto in the cast is Matt Smith (Doctor Who) as Loxias Crown, Adria Arjona (True Detective), Tyrese Gibson (Fast & Furious series) as Simon Stroudm, and Jared Harris (The Terror) in an unnamed role.

Morbius hits theaters on July 31, 2020.
