Monster Rancher Advance 2 details
We have new screens from and information on Tecmo's upcoming sequel to the GBA installment of its Monster Rancher franchise.
Tecmo released some new screens of its next entry in the Monster Rancher series on the Game Boy Advance, Monster Rancher Advance 2. Tecmo expanded the PlayStation and PlayStation 2 monster-breeding franchise onto the GBA last year with Monster Rancher Advance. Unlike its console cousins, which let players generate monsters from CDs and DVDs or by combining two different monsters, Monster Rancher Advance generated creatures from text phrases inputted by players. Tecmo is sticking with the same method for monster generation in the sequel and is refining the gameplay as well.
The coaching system introduced last year in MRA, which let players use monsters that were too old to fight to train new creatures, will be refined. Coaches in MRA2 will now offer unique training sessions based on their breed and will interact more with players by warning players of potential trouble during training. In addition, the game will allow a greater degree of interactivity between monsters via the GBA link cable. A "monster meeting" feature will let players use the GBA link to allow their monster to interact with a friend's monster. The meetings will affect the development of both monsters by causing the creatures to pick up habits, both bad and good, from one another. For example, a lazy monster that interacts with one that has a better work ethic may become a better worker, or a monster with a pleasant demeanor may become antisocial after interacting with a surly one.
Monster Rancher Advance 2 is slated to ship this October for the Game Boy Advance.
