Monster Hunter Stories 2 Story Trailer Debuts During Summer Game Fest
Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin releases July 9 for Nintendo Switch and PC.
Capcom debuted a new trailer for Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin during Summer Games Fest 2021. The trailer focuses on Rathalos, a large wyvern monster species that have been disappearing under mysterious circumstances. Protagonist Red helps a Wyverian girl named Ena protect a Rathalos egg that, if hatched, could be quite destructive. The trailer seems to suggest that (surprise) the egg will end up hatching. Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin releases July 9 for Nintendo Switch and PC.
Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, like its 3DS predecessor, will play much differently than the mainline Monster Hunter games. Wings of Ruin trades action combat for a turn-based battle system. As Red, the grandson of a legendary Rider, you'll travel across the land taming Monsties, who then battle against wild Monsties and other Riders.
If a Pokemon-inspired Monster Hunter experience sounds like your kind of game, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is available to preorder now. There are multiple editions up for grabs, though sadly the GameStop-exclusive Collector's edition is currently sold out. A trio of new Monster Hunter Amiibo figures will be available at launch, too, each of which unlocks a layered armor set. For those who also own Monster Hunter Rise, Capcom announced that you can link your save files to unlock an exclusive layered armor set.
