Monolith Productions has signed an agreement to publish TopWare Interactive's US-developed anime-style RPG, Septerra Core. Developed by Chicago-based Valkyrie Studios, Septerra Core takes place in a fable-meets-future-world setting where seven continents float above one another, attached only by a central living computer. Septerra Core gameplay will combine standard RPG elements with an easy-to-use interface and strategic combat.
Players will take control of Maya, a young junk scavenger who sets out on a quest to uncover the secrets of the Septerra Core. Maya will build a team of three from a cast of nine supporting characters with varying skills and motivations. The game also uses a spell-casting system based on a deck of fate cards and a clock-based combat system combining turn-based combat with fast action.
Valkyrie Studios is probably best known to gamers as being the creators of Beavis and Butthead in Virtual Stupidity. Septerra Core is due during the fall of 1999.
