Modern Warfare 2 regains Call of Duty prefix

I don't care about its name or the box art, I just want Stopping Power, Juggernoob, and Martyrdumb gone.

its just a title. it would be the same game regardless.

Doesnt really matter to me. It would be great without the COD tag, and will be great with it. Atleast now i can just say CoD not modern warfare 2.

Now I can stop correcting people on how its not a Call of Duty game, because it is now. I don't really think I like the box art, but it doesn't matter.

At least its call of duty thats all i need other than the gameplay

DUH, you need people to recognize the name to get them to buy it.

Hope they spice it up a little bit I'm somewhat tired of doing the same exact thing every time. But on a better note I am excited and definitely going to getting it when it comes out.

I don't care if they called it Modern Warfare 2: Rise of the Pink Poneys. I'm still gettin it.

I didn't think Activision would let them keep it without the prefix anyways. Call of Duty is one of their highest profit series, and a game that closely resembles the series that much will be marked as Call of Duty. The series has made a name for itself in the gaming industry. Not everyone reads these gaming websites, so not everyone would immediately notice that it is actually a Call of Duty game.

That box art looks terrible. It's the Call of Duty 2 "Call of Duty, the CoD4 "Modern Warfare" and the Battlefield 2 "2" :P

It really is all in the name.

I also don't like the box art very much. It just doesn't look very interesting, in my opinion.

@coaltango To be perfectly honest, CoD has always been a MS leaning franchise. It started as purely PC, then branched to PC/360. PC and 360 will always, to some degree or another, be the 'lead' development consoles for Infinity Ward.

Ah, damnit. I liked the game being named Modern Warfare 2; it just sounds a lot more interesting than Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Damn.

I'm not feeling the cover of this game. The picture is alright, but the title just looks all wrong. If you are keeping track, there is 3 different fonts for one title.

It looks a little awkward but nonetheless a game I am truly excited for.

that word placement almost seems like they were trying to cram everthing in. the words go from one end of the case to the other. did they not have room? the "call of duty" placement is super weird its like they were trying to make it as small and invisible as they could, as @xunhallowed said it's foolish and socially inept.

I was thinking at first after reading the comments, who cares about what the box artwork looks like but now I look at it again, it does look cheesy, not to be an a$$ but they really coulda did better with the box art, the inclusion of the prefix is what makes it look weird...

@coaltango its just you cause its for all three not exclusive. im so glad they stayed with cod cause everyone would be arguing about who stole what ideas from whome and stuff. if anyone really stole something it would be treyarch cause they used infinity wards engine.

I think they should have just left it modern warfare 2. If you can't recognize the game without the words Call of Duty in the title, you shouldn't be playing the game.

It's almost as ugly as the Orange Box artwork. I like the art, but the text just seems to be placed haphazardly. As xunhallowed said, almost as if it were placed by a mere simpleton!

is it me or it just feels like modern warfare 2 is an X360 exclusive

Allow me to revise my previous statement, because I'm apparently not allowed to say retard (please note: I'm not using it in a 'derogatory way' this time, I've learned my lesson and will be a good boy, I promise, wouldn't want to offend anyone, right?). The placement of the "Call of Duty" logo looks like a person considered to be foolish or socially inept. My god, censorship is great, right?

Why drop it in the first place? That would be like the Medal of Honor franchise calling its games just "Frontline" or "European Assault."

What difference would it make, it's still a call of duty game whether they write it on the box or not

this game needs to have the pre fix Call of Duty in front of it because it is a call of duty game not its own game
