Mission: Impossible 7 Star Hayley Atwell Talks About "Frustrating" Doctor Strange 2 Cameo

However, the Peggy Carter actress did say she had fun doing the stunts in the movie.

If Peggy Carter's appearance in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness left a bad taste in your mouth, you're not alone. Actress Hayley Atwell has expressed that her cameo as Captain Carter was a "frustrating moment" since she didn't get to do much as the superhero.

More spoilers follow for Doctor Strange 2 and Marvel's What If...? below.

Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast (and spotted by IGN), Atwell seemed let down by the fate of Peggy in the Doctor Strange sequel. "When she was like, 'I could do this all day,' and then followed by she's immediately cut in half by a frisbee," the actress said. "And the audience being like, 'She can't do it all day. Apparently, you can't, so egg on your face.' That doesn't really serve Peggy very well."

Atwell came across as appreciating Peggy's arc more on Marvel's What If…? animated series, saying she "felt like I had much more to do" on the Disney+ show. By comparison, in Doctor Strange 2, Atwell said, "she had less to do than what she did before, before she had the shield."

However, the actress--who stars in the just-released Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning Part 1--did enjoy the stunt work she got to perform on Doctor Strange 2. She said it "was really great" performing moves like sliding on her knees in the Marvel movie.

Now this isn't the first time an actress has had some issues with the movie. Scarlet Witch actress Elizabeth Olsen noted earlier this year that the Doctor Strange and Multiverse of Madness writer hadn't watched WandaVision, leading to inconsistencies in how her story fits together through the two projects.
