Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition coming to retail April 30

Disc-based version of open-world creation game launching late next month in United States for $20.

A disc-based version of Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition will release at physical retailers in the United States April 30 for $20, the Microsoft-run PlayXBLA announced today. The game will include all the same features and content found in the Xbox Live version, as well as new additions to be introduced through upcoming title updates.

"The retail game will be exactly the same as the digital version in every way, including support for multiplayer connectivity between the retail game and the digital download," PlayXBLA explained. "And the retail disc version will receive all the same content and feature updates as the digital version ongoing."

Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition will release in Australia, Hong Kong, India, New Zealand, Singapore, and Taiwan in early June. No mention was made of a release in Europe or other territories.

The game originally launched through Xbox Live last May, scoring a warm critical reception and selling 5 million units--generating $100 million in revenue--as of the end of 2012.
