The PlayStation 4 version of Minecraft launches on Thursday, September 4 and will cost $20 (£12.99) to download, Sony has announced.
Mirroring a similar deal for Xbox One owners, those who have the game on PS3 can purchase the next-gen version for $5 (£3.69).
Meanwhile, all DLC purchased on the PS3 version can be accessed for free on PS4, and all saved content can be carried over too.
Sony claims that Minecraft: PS4 Edition allows players to generate worlds as much as 36 times larger than the PS3 version. Offline multiplayer can support up to four players.
The journey the the PS4 release has not been free of complications. In August, the studio porting the game to PlayStation 4, 4J Studios, said the build had failed Sony's certification test.
Minecraft was a breakthrough hit for its developer Markus Persson. Total downloads of the game now exceed 54 million.
A PS Vita version of the sandbox world-builder is also in development.
