Minecraft is one of Microsoft's biggest properties, and so it's only fitting that it gets its own dedicated event. The aptly named Minecraft Live will debut next month, replacing Minecon this year and packed with announcements. It all starts October 3 at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET.

The trailer teases huge updates and the ability to pick the next Minecraft mob. The announcement also says you'll get to see what Mojang has been working on, though that's probably included in the "huge updates" part.

Mojang currently has three Minecraft projects out: Minecraft, the building game that started it all; Minecraft Earth, the AR game; and Minecraft Dungeons, the dungeon-crawling RPG. We could expect updates to any or all of these games, or possibly even new projects altogether.

This is said to be an annual event, so we may see the Minecraft Live name remain even after this year's virtual event. The announcement also mentions that Minecraft Festival, the annual commmunity celebration, has been postponed until 2022. Until then, Mojang is planning to celebrate the community with game updates, so be on the lookout for those.
