[UPDATE] Mighty No. 9 is now available on Xbox 360. Original story follows.

Mighty No. 9, the long-awaited platformer from Mega Man designer Keiji Inafune, has been delayed again--but this time only one platform is affected.

In a blog post, developer Comcept revealed that a bug was found in the Xbox 360 version of the game, which has resulted in a delay that will span "several days."

"There were issues regarding the publishing process for the Xbox 360 version of the game, and a certification bug was found in the final round of testing which is delaying the release of that version for several days," Comcept said.

"Our team has already re-submitted the build to Deep Silver (and to Microsoft), and we expect it to go gold within a few days if all goes according to plan," it added.

Mighty No. 9's Xbox 360 version was supposed to arrive today, June 21. All of the other versions of the game scheduled to launch today--PS4, Xbox One, PS3, PC, and Wii U--have debuted on time. The 3DS and PlayStation Vita editions are coming later.

Xbox 360 players can still play Mighty No. 9 today, however, if they're willing and able to play on PC.

"For the backers who chose that platform [Xbox 360], we are supplying Steam keys so that those users are not left behind on release day," the post said. "Once the Xbox 360 version is ready for release we will send out those codes to the relevant backers ASAP."

Comcept also explained that the Mac/Linux Steam versions of Mighty No. 9 won't be available today. "These two versions of the game should be ready within a few days," it said.

Reviews for Mighty No. 9 started to show up online yesterday. The game is not being praised in the way Comcept might have wanted. GameSpot's review scored the game a 5/10, while other reviews were also critical.

It's been a long road to release for Mighty No. 9. After successfully raising funds on Kickstarter in 2013, the game was delayed multiple times before its release today. The project has also been surrounded by some amount of controversy.

I'm very disappointed with the bad reviews i had a lot hopes for this game and it didn't happen. I will still get it for steam but i'll wait for one of those steam sales and get it.

So you can't get the 360 version out to ppl so your solution is to give them keys for it on Steam? Uh don't you think that if they could play it on PC they would have chances are if they are wanting to play this game on the 360 it's because there PC can't run it. you don't need to meet a specific specification on the Xbox 360 all the systems play the same but you don't know what PC set-up these players have they may not even be able to run this on PC making your Steam code useless to them. It actually would have made more sense to give them a PS3 code for the game as they probably have one of those as well and at least you would know for sure they could actually run it.

@Marky360: Some people don't mind having and playing the game in different platforms and that's all that there is to it.

@angrycreep:

Did you even read what mu comment says because your comment doesn't make any sense like seriously who said anything about ppl minding playing on different platforms?

Avatar image for angrycreep

@Marky360: Listen dummy i didn't say that someone said that, i'm saying that i didn't say someone did. Your comment is the one that don't make any sense. You said to give PS3 code for the game as they probably have one of those as well and at least you would know for sure they could actually run it. Why would the PC not be able to run it? That's a very simple game that probably 99 percent of the computer population should be able to run without any major problem.

@Marky360: your comment implied that if someone wanted it on 360,they dont have a pc capable of running it. The comment made was to state that some people just prefer to play on a console, even an outdated last gen one, over pc, at least that's how I took it.

I mean I'm sure my pc could run this game, but I'd buy it on any console before steam. Granted given reviews and such I'm not likely to buy it at all....

@VXXXJesterXXXV: That is not a demanding game by any way of the imagination so my question to him is why he thinks that people would have problems running a simple game like that in a PC? It seems that this should be a game that probably 99 percent of computer population should be able to run without any major problem.

Spread the crappy game to all platforms. I hope they do an EXCLUSIVE VR version of it.

Even MORE delays? Inafune just can't stop spitting at the faces of his fans.

The truly sad part's when Mighty No.9 was funded Xbox 360, PS3 & Wii U were relevant consoles.

So is the VITA version available??? I received the pre-order today for PS4 and the front of the box says "Cross-Buy : Includes downloadable version for Playstation Vita and Playstation 3 systems". So basically false when it comes to VITA?

Well seeing the score it got pretty much everywhere, I don't think 360 players are in a rush to get their hands on this game.

xbox360 vision wont sale know since a lot fans switch to PS4 .

I only see this delay as a problem for the developer. This delay seems to have saved a bunch of people from wasting their money. With so many negative reviews, they ought to not even worry about releasing it on the 360. It may not even be worthwhile, profit wise. This seems to be reserved for hardcore fans that just have to have anything with the Mega Man name or in relation to it.

Why bother with the Xbox 360? I mean, it was a great console but it's now roughly 3 years out of date... Heck, MS, Sony and Nintendo are readying a new generation after the current one already. Supporting the 360 is like deciding to support the Atari 2600 at this point.

Avatar image for Barighm

@wookietim: There are more 360's out there than One's and PS4's.

Avatar image for Thanatos2k
Thanatos2k

@wookietim: Because the game runs perfectly fine on it, and it likely cost very little to port it there. Why NOT release it on the platform if there's no downside to doing so?

Avatar image for wookietim
wookietim

@Thanatos2k: Since the very article you are commenting on notes that there are problems porting it to the 360 which is why it is delayed, I contend that your assertion of "the game runs perfectly fine on it" might be a tad flawed.

Avatar image for Thanatos2k
Thanatos2k

@wookietim: Yeah, the game "should" run perfectly fine, had it been made by competent developers........

Avatar image for playstationzone
PlaystationZone

@wookietim: do know PS4 and PS4 Neo run same games and same store .

Avatar image for wookietim
wookietim

@playstationzone: So does the XB1 Slim and Scorpio and XB1. But that does not mean that designing games for the PS3 makes sense in 2016...

But apparently this game was promised for the 360 on the kickstarter and so they do have a requirement for that.

@wookietim:

I don't see what the problem is with releasing games on the 360 or the PS3 I still have both and would buy games on both if they only came to those 2 and not the 2 current gen systems I don't care about the graphics I'm just looking for something fun to play.

Avatar image for prince_david

@wookietim: Because when this kickstarter was around the 360 was the current console not a lot of people had PS4 and Xbone. Backers paid for their console to be supported

Avatar image for wookietim

@prince_david: I guess that makes sense.

As much as I had fun with the Xbox 360 but it has aged well now, we really shouldn't be porting any games for last-gen. Time to move on to the current-gen only. Surprising there having issues with the Xbox 360 compared to PS3 cells.

Avatar image for Thanatos2k

@davillain-: This is not a current gen game, have you seen the graphics?

Avatar image for Xristophoros

@davillain-: agreed. porting mighty number 9 to so many platforms may be part of the reason why it turned out so badly. they should have focused their efforts on ps4/x1/pc only. that may have given them more time to polish and improve the existing game, rather than rush out shoddy ports on aging platforms.
