Midway's new platform adventure revealed

Midway and Traveller's Tales team up to deliver Haven: Call of the King.

Midway has announced the development of Haven: Call of the King. The game is currently up and running on the PlayStation 2, but it is planned for release on all platforms. The game is currently under development at Traveller's Tales, the London-based company responsible for games like Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex and Sonic R.

Haven uses some pretty hefty technology that allows it to combine platforming, flying, racing, shooting, and more. The game is composed of one unified world that you can traverse in many different ways. For example, if you find a flying craft, you can point it straight up and fly out of the atmosphere, orbit the planet for a while, and land it wherever you please.

The game puts the player in the role of a character named Haven. Haven is prone to nightmares that reveal a tale of great evil and a bell known as the Golden Voice. Ringing this bell will free Haven's enslaved people and defeat the evil Lord Vetch. So Haven sets out on a grand quest to recover the Golden Voice.

We'll have more information on Haven: Call of the King, along with screens and video, next week during E3.
